Bella 10K and Bella 5K Road Races – Sunday 1st September 2013

On Sunday 1st September Bellahouston Road Runners host the 2013 Bella 5K and Bella 10K road races. We offer a fast, flat course within Bellahouston Park, Glasgow. All entrants will receive a technical t shirt with both races being chip timed. This year we will have music and race commentary throughout the day. The races are under UK Athletics rules and are Scottish Athletics permit events. Pre entry for both events by Wednesday 28th August 2013.

The Bella 5K will have a limit of 200 competitors, with a minimum age of 12 years and the Bella 10K will have a limit of 650 competitors, with a minimum age of 15 years.

After the races please head back to Mosspark Bowling Club where the club puts on its now famous post race spread including teas, coffee, soft drinks, sandwiches, and lots of cake.

5K start time is 10am.
10K start time is 11am.

Registration and Changing

Registration and changing are at Mosspark Bowling Club (G52 1LJ). The club is on Mosspark Drive which is just off Mosspark Boulevard on the south side of Bellahouston Park, Glasgow. Numbers and chips should be collected on the day from 8:45am, with registration closing at 10:45am. It is a 5-10 minute walk to the start. The 5K starts at near the Pitch and Putt course in the centre of the park at 10am, and the 10K starts at the highest point of the park, near the monument in Bellahouston Park at 11am.

Getting Here and Parking

The post code for Mosspark Bowling Club is G52 1LJ. If coming by car there is a small car park at the bowling club, accessible from Mosspark Avenue. There is plenty of parking available in the various car parks within Bellahouston Park. On street parking is also available in the surrounding streets. If you could avoid parking directly in front of the shops on Mosspark Drive this would be helpful.

Bellahouston Park is close to the M8. Please use junction 24 (if travelling east), M8 junction 23 (if travelling west), or use M77 junction 1 if coming from the south, or if approaching from the M8 Glasgow City Centre. The nearest subway is Ibrox. Trains travel from Central Station to Dumbreck Railway Station, which is a 5-minute walk from the park. Please use Traveline Scotland to determine which is the best public transport option for you.

Course

The 5K and 10K route is entirely on tarmac paths within the park, and also makes use of some pavement adjacent to the park. Course maps are at the bottom of the page. Water will be available at the end of the races, and there will be one water stop on the 10K route shortly after 5K.

Prizes

Prizes will be available in both 5K and 10K races. The prize giving will take place at Mosspark Bowling Club shortly after the 10K race.

Age group categories:

Male: 15-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60

Female: 15-34, 35-44, 45-54, 55

Series Prize

The series prize is awarded to the first male and first female runner with lowest combined time over the Bella 10K and Jimmy Irvine 10K race series.
