The Jimmy Irvine Bella 10K takes place in Glasgow’s Bellahouston Park on Saturday 8th November 2014 starting at 11am. We offer a fast, flat course within Bellahouston Park with a technical t shirt for all entrants. The race will be chip timed.
Registration takes place at Mosspark Bowling Club (120 Mosspark Drive, Glasgow, G52 1LJ). Pre entry by Sunday 2nd November 2014 with a race limit of 650 entrants. Minimum age for entry is 15. Last year the event completely sold out a few weeks in advance of race date so please do not delay entering.
After the race please head back to Mosspark Bowling Club where the club puts on its now famous post race spread including teas, coffee, soft drinks, sandwiches, and lots of cake. Thanks to our sponsors Achilles Heel, macB, and Tunnock’s.
The entry fee for SAL members is £14 and non SAL is £16.
Registration, Changing and Toilet Facilities
Registration and changing are at Mosspark Bowling Club (G52 1LJ). The club is on Mosspark Drive which is just off Mosspark Boulevard on the south side of Bellahouston Park, Glasgow. Registration opens at 8:45am, and closes at 10:45am. Please check your name on the number boards displayed in the registration hall, and proceed to the queue marked for that number. You will be given a race number to be displayed clearly on your running top, and a timing chip. Allow plenty of time to get to the Bowling Club and collecting your number and chip as the registration will be very busy. It is a 5-10 minute walk to the start at the highest point of Bellahouston Park, near the monument.
Toilets are available at the Bowling Club and mobile toilets will also be available in Bellahouston Park, situated conveniently between the start and finish area.
Getting Here and Parking
The post code for Mosspark Bowling Club is G52 1LJ. If coming by car there is a small car park at the bowling club, accessible from Mosspark Avenue. There is plenty of parking available in the various car parks within Bellahouston Park. On street parking is also available in the surrounding streets. If you could avoid parking directly in front of the shops on Mosspark Drive this would be helpful.
Bellahouston Park is close to the M8. Please use junction 24 (if travelling east), M8 junction 23 (if travelling west), or use M77 junction 1 if coming from the south, or if approaching from the M8 Glasgow City Centre. The nearest subway is Ibrox. Trains travel from Central Station to Dumbreck Railway Station, which is a 5-minute walk from the park. Please use Traveline Scotland to determine which is the best public transport option for you.
The 10K course is entirely on tarmac paths and pavement within the park and surrounds. Route maps at the bottom of the page. The course is generally flat with the odd incline, but nothing too troubling! There will be Kilometre markers on the course. There will be one water station on the course just after 5K and water will be available at the finish line.
