The rain cleared up (mostly!) for the Dumbarton 10k last Thursday, for which the 38 Bellas participating were very grateful. There were at least 8 PB’s (let us know if you’re missing a PB trophy) – very well done. Congratulations to Bruce Carmichael who was 10th overall and Gerry Scullion was 2nd V50. Well done to everyone who took part. Full results are available here: Runbritain – Dumbarton 10K 2016 results
Club Championship
For those coming to the Club tomorrow (Wed 1st June) for the President’s Cup 5k handicap race, don’t forget your club vest for the annual club photo. We’ll allocate numbers at Nethercraigs, before heading up to Bellahouston Park. The presentation will take place back at Nethercraigs after the race, and food will be provided.
Well done to all 42 Bellas who took part in the Polaroid Clydebank 10k last Thursday. Special mention to Gerry Scullion who was 1st MV50 again this time, after his Helensburgh triumph the week before. At the rate he’s winning sunglasses we wouldn’t be surprised if he tries to open up a Specsavers franchise at the back of the training room at Nethercraigs. Better running conditions saw 14 members running a PB, some of 2 minutes or more, which is a fabulous achievement! Congratulations to you all (Let us know if you’re missing a PB trophy icon). Thanks to the Bella support crew who were out in force once again. The shouts and photos are always welcome. Full results are here Runbritain results Clydebank 10k 2016

Full results Loch Leven HM 2016 On Sunday at the Monklands Half marathon Andrew Walls was 1st Bella home in 1:32:49, Anthony O’Neill 1:37:53, Bryan Evans 1:45:55 and Murdoch Rodgers 1:46:25. Well done all. Full results here Running with a buggy didn’t slow Graeme Paterson down much at Pollok parkrun on Saturday. Young Joseph slept through it all and didn’t seem at all impressed by his dad coming in 2nd overall, ahead of 471 other runners, in 18:20. “I reckon I can do that course in under 18 minutes” said Graeme. We’re looking forward to seeing that! Checkout our Bella parkrun results page for links to consolidated parkrun results for Bellas over the last few weeks.
Great turnout of Bellas for the first of the Polaroid 10K races in Helensburgh last Thursday. Congratulations to Gerry Scullion who won the 1st MV50 prize on a particularly warm evening. PBs were hard to come by so very well done if you managed to achieve one. Well done to everyone who took part. Let us know if you’re missing a PB trophy. Well done to the 17 Bellas who took part in the Alloa Half Marathon on the first day of Spring – Sunday 20 March 2016. With over 1500 finishers, this event is hugely popular and well worth it’s inclusion in our own Club Championship. As ever if I’ve missed any PB trophy icons below, do let us know: Full results here: Runbritain results
Well done to all the Bellahouston Road Runners who took part in the Clydebank 5k on Saturday. When 16 out of the 23 competitors for the Club get PBs in a race (70% Bella PBs compared to 43% PBs of all entrants), you have to ask if the course was short or the timer forgot to start the clock! There certainly were some issues with the results on the day, and the published ones currently still seem to have given everyone the time of the person ahead of them. However, PB improvements of 20-30 seconds were not uncommon, and some GPS’s even measured the course slightly long. The perfect running conditions, very strong field and great winter training were clearly much bigger factors in such good performances by Bellas. Epic turnout and results at the Balloch to Clydebank Half Marathon today, 37 Bella finishers and great results across the board. Bruce Carse 1st Bella male, Louise Ross 1st Bella lady, Gerry Scullion 1st MV50. Louise, Ann and Debs won the ladies team prize (Louise and Ann having far too much fun judging from the photo). Well done everyone! If there are any missing PB’s below let us know. Full results here: Balloch to Clydebank Runbritain results

The Renfrewshire AAA 5 mile road race took place at Battery park in Greenock on 7 Feb 2016. The wind is always a challenge for this Club Championship race, but this year high winds and heavy rain had caused the approach road to Greenock to be blocked causing long travel delays. Just getting to the start line was therefore a major achievement and unfortunately not everyone made it, with several turning back or arriving after the race had started. Battery Park had its own flooding problems with 30m long puddles, knee deep in places, a major obstacle for runners not expecting “cross country on the roads” as one competitor put it. In the latter stages of the race, submerged kerbs in these water features were tripped over causing a number of runners to fall and one competitor even broke his ankle. Although the rain held off for the race, the wind was particularly brutal this year. On re-entering the park after the out-and-back along the esplanade the gale force wind was like a solid wall slowing everyone’s progress. Well done to everyone who took part but particularly well done to Ann, Claire and Katie who took Bronze medals in the ladies competition, with Claire coming 2nd V40. The men’s team were 4th for the second year running. Full results Runbritain Rankings Photo by Gordon Goldie
